Tom, Zombieworx Comics Publisher (and creator of the hit comic book The Red Eye as well as Pulp) Kyle Kaczmarczyk and time-travelling Tonawanda native and sci-fi author Diane Meholick (Switch In Time, Buffalo Stories, Painting Katherine) antagonize, titillate and aggravate an endless barrage of attendees at the 3rd Annual Buffalo Small Press Book Fair. Dreadlocks, Raggedy Andy Hats and bike horns prove to be a deadly combination. The event took place on Saturday, March 14th at the Karpeles Manuscript Museum. This podcast is a continuation of the Monsters Of Verse series.
‘We’ve Got Gregg’s Back’ was a charity benefit held for 4-time Buffalo Music Award-Winning musician Gregg Sansonne on Sunday, March 29th (Gregg’s birthday) at the Colonel Weber VFW Post in Lackawanna. The event was hosted by author Tom Waters featuring performances by Busted Stuff, The Mick Hayes Band, Only Humen (featuring Michael Bly) and Black Widow. In April, Gregg had to undergo major back surgery. ‘We’ve Got Gregg’s Back’ brought in thousands of dollars to support Gregg’s procedure and a turnout of over 400 fans, friends and fellow musicians. Sound recording and mixing for the event courtesy of Jesse Rejewski (JR Audio Sound Production), editing and production by Tom Waters.
Buffalo Music Award winners The Mick Hayes Band tear it up with some hard-hitting blues originals from their latest album, covers, and renditions of some beloved rock standards. Guest vocals by David Lee Frost.
Buffalo Music Award Hall Of Famers Only Humen take care of business with some smooth soul, mop-top bop, country-fried rock, slow songs to make sweet, sweet love to, contemporary alternative, and a surprise cameo on vocals from young whippersnapper (and stage icon in his own right) Michael Bly.
Gregg takes the mic to thank everyone who took part in the event, the crowd tuns on Tom with a rabid bloodlust, and Black Widow leads everyone under the roof in an unusual rendition/medley of Happy Birthday.
Buffalo Music Award legends Black Widow close out the show with a bang, raise more money for Gregg, and give in to the dreaded 'Free Bird' audience request.
Tom and eleventh hour co-host Diabetes Dave cross swords and do their best to keep all hands on deck while world-renowned nymphomaniac and adult film star Sara Jay drives her Hitachi home for the extra point.
